The First Church Roxbury, home of the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry, needed a new driveway and parking area in keeping with the historic structure. All improvements required approval from Boston Water and Sewer and the Boston Landmarks Commission, and archaeological investigations resulted in significant restrictions on disturbance of the soil.

As the existing gravel driveway dried out following a storm, a faint ring from a previous circular drive became visible, so the new driveway design was reconsidered to put the circle back.
